STEPS TO BECOMING AN ACCREDITED COACH
In July 2020, Baseball Australia revised their coach accreditation system, and integrated the USA Baseball Certification courses A, B and C nationally. Coach Accreditation is an obligatory requirement of both Baseball Australia and Baseball Canberra. This requirement applies to Coaches, Assistant Coaches and “Specialist” Coaches. A Coach has a legal responsibility, owing a duty of care to all participants under his/her care, which cannot be avoided. Being an accredited Coach acknowledges awareness of that responsibility, and indicates that certain steps have been undertaken to attain a specific level of knowledge, with a level of confidence and ability. The following information outlines the steps you must complete in order to obtain coaching accreditation.
Step 1 - Mandatory Pre-Requisites (ALL Coaches)
There are two prerequisites required for coaching at ALL levels of baseball in Australia. They are:
· Successful completion of Sport Australia’s Online General Principles course, and
· Attainment of a Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration.
